PHOENIX, Ariz. – Iconographer Delilah (the Righteous Hair Stylist) Van Gesso was delighted to discover that Steven-Paul Robinson, erstwhile blogger, radio personality, sheetrocker, cartoonist, school counselor, author, husband, father, and lowing exoshelled reptile, is still very much alive and living in Phoenix, Arizona.
“I had traveled down here to write his icon,” said Van Gesso, “hoping to score some photographs from his widow, only to find that not only is he still alive, but his wife isn’t his widow yet either.”
Van Gesso works both as an iconographer and a painter of non-icon art on religious themes. She is perhaps most famous for her 1989 portrait of a medieval soldier who retired to a monastery, “The Staretz Knight.”
“Imagine my embarrassment,” the talented yolk-dauber told our intrepid editor, “when I discovered not only is he alive, but he’s only 60 years old. He looked so much older when I heard him on Ancient Faith Radio.” Ancient Faith Radio is a podcast on Orthodox themes that has not once interviewed Alex Riggle. “I guess I’ll just have to go home now. But I’ll be back.”
“Please, take your time,” said Robinson’s wife, Peggy (St. Silouan the Athonite). “He hasn’t finished fixing the floors yet, and that could be a while.”
